The Lancet’s New Gaza Report Accidentally Proves Israel’s Case
How MSF’s own data undercuts the “indiscriminate bombing” narrative
What the Report Claims
Médecins Sans Frontières just released casualty data from Gaza. The findings are already being cited in the media as proof that Israel bombs without distinction.
But if you look at the numbers themselves, they tell a very different story.
The Numbers
Of all the wound-care patients MSF tracked in 2024:
68% were male
32% were female
Fewer than 30% were children under 15
Compare That to Gaza’s Population
Gaza is approximately half male, half female, with nearly 40% under the age of 15.
If Israel were truly bombing at random, the casualties would reflect that. We would see a near 50/50 gender split and far higher numbers of children. Instead, the overwhelming majority are military-age men.
This is exactly what you would expect if Israel’s operations were focused on Hamas fighters and operatives, who are overwhelmingly young to middle-aged males.
In other words, the very figures now being used to accuse Israel of war crimes are, when read honestly, evidence of the opposite.
The Source Problem
It’s also important to remember that these numbers come from MSF, an organization openly hostile to Israel, working inside Gaza hospitals and relying on statistics provided by the Hamas-run “Ministry of Health.” There is no reason to take their data at face value.
In fact, one of their employees was recently exposed by the IDF as working for a terrorist organization in Gaza.
The Takeaway
The press will never spell this out. They prefer to shout the headline number and bury the details. Because if they admitted what those details show, their entire narrative would collapse.
When an army produces casualty ratios that concentrate overwhelmingly on the demographic most likely to be fighters, it is not evidence of indiscriminate bombing. It is evidence of a military doing everything possible, in impossible circumstances, to dismantle a terror group embedded among civilians while minimizing civilian deaths.
